Nov 20, 2012

Beginning today, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office now offers the public an additional way to submit information regarding criminal activity to sheriff’s office deputies and investigators. The Citizen Assist Tip Text to Tackle Crime line or “CATT” allows the public to use their mobile phone or computer to anonymously provide information to combat criminal activity. The CATT line is not intended for real time emergency response and will not be monitored on a minute to minute basis. Information submitted will be checked on a daily basis and utilized to help solve on-going cases under investigation. Sheriff Jay Jones offers ,“ This program takes advantage of current technology and allows our citizens  to submit information that will hopefully aid law enforcement in identifying and apprehending those responsible for  the commission of crimes in our community. No effort will be made to identify the person texting the information; our interest is the tip.”  Please remember not to text and drive.

The CATT contact number is 334-319-1140.
