The Lee County Sheriff's Office is proud to present the "Are You OK?" program to the citizens of Lee County. This simple program allows an unlimited number of people to be checked on a daily basis without tying up personnel. Each person that signs up for the program will receive a telephone call from Sheriff Jay Jones at a specified time to make sure that they are OK. A simple answer of the telephone is all that is required. If no answer is received, another call will be placed and if no answer is obtained then next of kin, neighbors or a deputy will be dispatched to the residence to check on the subscriber. If a subscriber goes out of town for vacation or is going to be gone during a time that is scheduled for the "Are You OK?' program to call, a simple phone to the Sheriff's Office will stop all calls until we are notified that the subscriber is back on a regular schedule. A person may be called several times during the day if desired for different reasons; to make sure they are OK, to remind them to take their medicine or to make sure that they made it home from a trip. This program is currently in use by 1700 agencies across the United States. The "ARE You OK?" program will be available to all citizens whether they live in cities of Auburn, Opelika, Smiths Station or in the county.
